Fairview, wasn't incorporated until 1958, and is, according to its website, "still keeping it country" here. Although there are some newer zero-lot-line subdivisions, many of the homes are situated on lots of over an acre, large enough to keep horses on. As part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, Fairview is bordered by McKinney, the county seat, Allen, Lucas and Wilson Creek, a tributary of the East Fork Trinity River, and is adjacent to the 289-acre Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary.

But it’s not all wide open spaces. Just off Central Expressway, you’ll find the mammoth Village at Fairview Mall (and its equally huge counterpart across the street, in Allen). 

The cover story for the July 2017 edition of D Magazine is The 10 Best Neighborhoods in North Texas and the entire Town of Fairview is ranked amongst this high caliber list. Fairview was ranked in May as the fourth safest city in the state by the National Council for Home Safety & Security, and SafeWise, a leading online safety resource, placed Fairview at number 3.

Fairview, with a population of over 8,500, is served by two highly rated school districts, the  Lovejoy Independent School District and the McKinney Independent School District.
